Free Verse Poem

The Other Side of the World

The simplest things in an everyday life
Whether it be laughter, sadness, or happiness
Create a mold in a person, a structure
A foundation to strive through one’s outlook
Or an obstacle to block one’s path.

But what if that structure were to be flipped around?
What if laughter became sadness and sadness became enjoyment?
What if your one obstacle became your best friend?
Or your life’s dreams became your enemy?
What happens when you are on the other side of the world?

The cold, hard drops of rain danced on the grass
While the rainbows crashed and burned into ashes
The tiniest crack in the concrete floor came alive to eat you
As the dangerous soul from the wind’s breeze blew past your face
What would life be without a structure or purpose?

Just think...
